2007-2012 NSW Volunteer of the Year Award

The NSW Volunteer of the Year Award program was run for the first time in 2007 by The Centre for Volunteering and was launched by the then NSW Minister for Volunteering and Award Patron, the Hon Linda Burney.

In 2007 the Award program received 170 nominations. This rose to a massive 450 nominations in 2008, when The Centre ran the Award program for a second time.

The 2009 Award program resulted in 296 high calibre nominations in total. While at initial glance this looks to be a drop from the 445 nominations received in 2008, 76 of these nominations were for the new 2009 NSW Volunteer Team of the Year Award, representing more than 1,000 volunteers across the State.

The 2010 NSW Volunteer of the Year Award was the most successful Award year to date...with the help of 2010 Award Partner Westpac, nominations blew out to over 6,100!

2011 was the fifth year the NSW Volunteer of the Year Award  has been run. It is closer than ever reaching The Centre for Volunteering's goal to individually recognise each and every one of the two plus million volunteers in NSW through the NSW Volunteer of the Year Award. In 2011 the Award received 350 nominations totalling 5,275 volunteers throughout the State! Not far off now…
